Northeast Field Operations Manager, Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service
Gemma Deleon Lopresti is the Northeast Field Operations Manager, Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service and former Trustee of the Long Island Power Authority. Her background in labor relations includes mediation of labor management disputes, conflict/change management, alternative dispute resolution/EEO, collective bargaining, benefit plan administration, and workforce development.
Gemma was Executive Vice President, RWDSU, of the United Food and Commercial Workers Union and member of the Executive Board of the Long Island Federation of Labor and was the first female president of her local union. De Leon was past President of the Association of Benefit Administrators, New York, a think-tank for professionals involved in the field of health insurance, retirement/pension plan administration, and has written and given presentations regarding the future of pension plans.
Gemma emigrated from the Philippines at the age of five with her parents and younger sister and grew up in Queens, New York. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in public administration and an MBA in Marketing Management from St. John’s University and has been a Long Island resident for over 30 years.
