Vanessa Baird-Streeter

Ms. Baird-Streeter is the Deputy County Executive of Suffolk County. In this role, Ms. Baird-Streeter oversees a wide variety of County agencies, projects, and initiatives. Additionally, Ms. Baird-Streeter serves as one of the County’s Police Accountability Liaisons and leads the County’s MWBE/SDVOB (Minority, Women, and Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned businesses) Disparity Study aimed at providing the legal framework for establishing MWBE/SVDOB requirements as part of the County’s procurement process.

Ms. Baird-Streeter’s early career began in the financial industry as a Financial Analyst for the investment bank Goldman Sachs, and during her tenure in the financial industry, she served as both a Financial Analyst and Bond Buyer. Ms. Baird-Streeter also served as the Director of the Ministry to Catholics of African Ancestry, Director of Communications for the Town of Babylon, and Executive Director and Vice President of Communications for the Long Island Power Authority from 2009-2012.

In 2012, Ms. Baird-Streeter began her tenure in Suffolk County government, first serving as Director of Communications and then Assistant Deputy County Executive before becoming Deputy County Executive in 2020. In this position, she played a significant role in the County’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic and also served as a Police Accountability Liaison and Chair of the Suffolk County Police Reform and Reinvention Task Force.

Ms. Baird-Streeter has a long history of community involvement. Ms. Baird-Streeter also serves as the Executive Director of the Venettes Cultural Workshop, Inc., a performing arts organization that provides technical training and academic motivation through the Arts.

Through her work over the past 20 years, the Venettes Cultural Workshop has awarded over $500,000 to students through post-secondary and performing arts scholarships, provided academic counseling, and introduced students to the arts on an international level. During her career, Ms. Baird-Streeter has been honored by many community, civic, and educational organizations – receiving over 100 awards for her philanthropic, business, and community-based work.

Ms. Baird-Streeter is a graduate of Dartmouth College with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics and Education
