David Manning

Mr. Manning is the Director of the Stakeholder Relations Office at Brookhaven National Laboratory. In this role, Mr. Manning is responsible for developing, implementing, and assessing strategic internal and external communications plans and programs to advance the Lab’s scientific mission, priority programs, and initiatives.
Mr. Manning has worked in both government and the private sector, including serving as the Deputy Minister of Energy for Alberta, Canada; President of the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers; and Executive Vice President of Corporate Affairs and Chief Environmental Officer for KeySpan, which later merged with National Grid.
After working for KeySpan/National Grid, Mr. Manning began working on Climate Change with M.J. Bradley and Associates, then a division of Climate Change Capital, London. Mr. Manning later joined VHB Engineering, a Boston-based firm, as Senior Vice President for Energy, developing solar and wind projects as well as gas and power line infrastructure, primarily in the Northeastern U.S. During that period, Mr. Manning also served part-time under contract as Executive Director of both the New York Smart Grid Consortium and the Canadian Smart Grid Consortium.
Mr. Manning earned a B.A. and L.L.B. in law from the University of Alberta and did post-graduate work in international law at the Australian National University. Mr. Manning also has an honorary designation in Canada as Kings Counsel.
