Community College Scholarship
LIPA is partnering with United Way of Long Island to administer a Scholarship Program to encourage the next generation of workers in the utility sector. This collaboration ensures effective outreach and implementation, leveraging United Way’s expertise to maximize community impact and student success.
The goal of the LIPA Scholarship is to help equip the next generation of utility professionals with the skills and education needed to power our communities. Investing in workforce development will ensure that Long Island and the Rockaways have a strong pipeline of talented individuals prepared for careers in the electrical utility industry while supporting a more resilient and sustainable energy future.
This scholarship was established for high school students and young people 24 years of age and under from disadvantaged communities. Students and young people who meet this criterion and plan to attend vocational school or college to study any of the following fields are encouraged to apply:
- Electrical and Utility Fields
- Engineering
- Mathematics Technology
- Science
- Green Energy
- HVAC
The grant from LIPA will enable the United Way of Long Island to offer scholarships that provide financial support for students pursuing vocational training and certifications relevant to the electrical utility industry. This assistance is crucial in preparing students for sustainable careers in fields such as electrical engineering, renewable energy technologies, and utility operations.
