Operating as a non-profit entity, LIPA serves the Island’s growing population with a consistent commitment to cost- containment, efficiency and service reliability.
March 16,
9:00PM: Long Island experienced a severe weather event
with near hurricane force winds on March 13th. 263,000
customers have been impacted since the arrival of the storm,
with 236,000 having been already restored. Crews continue to
be deployed and are actively working to restore
approximately half of the remaining customer outages. Over
1,400 LIPA and other utility crews are working around the
clock to restore power and we expect the majority of our
customers will be restored by late Wednesday evening. Some
areas involving more significant damage may not be restored
until Thursday. As efforts progress, we will continue to
make calls to the majority of our customers without
electrical service to provide an estimated time of
restoration. Look for our next update at 9:00 AM.
To report a new outage please call 1-800-490-0075.
