March 18, 1:00PM: As a result of this past weekend's severe weather event, 263,000 customers lost power. As of 1 PM, all multiple customer storm related outages have been restored with only 39 single customer storm related outages remaining. All of these outages are currently being worked by crews and are expected to be restored today. Over the coming days and weeks, customers will continue to see utility personnel in the field, making permanent repairs and completing detailed surveys to ensure that any remaining sub-standard conditions are addressed and the system is returned to its normal condition. In instances where LIPA has left notification that temporary repairs were made to restore service at their home, homeowners are reminded that they must contact an electrician to make final permanent repair
