Home Performance Consumers

As part of the Home Performance with ENERGY STAR® program, your participating contractor will perform a Comprehensive Home Assessment (CHA), which generally lasts one to three hours. The CHA provides homeowners with the valuable information listed below regarding the existing condition of their home, and identifies areas where energy efficiency, comfort and safety improvements can be made.

• Health and safety
  (Carbon Monoxide levels/moisture problems)
• Air infiltration rates
• Insulation levels
• Domestic hot water system
• Heating system efficiency
• Cooling system- if applicable
• Central air conditioning efficiency- if applicable
• Distribution system (ductwork)- if applicable
• Lighting
• Major appliances

The Home Performance contractor will also provide a cost estimate to do the improvements.
