LIPA’s Residential Geothermal Rebates
have changed for 2008.
The 2008 rebates will be paid by unit, not by ton. This
change will result in a lower rebate for almost all
equipment as compared to what that same equipment would have
received under the 2007 program. Because of this change,
LIPA is extending the deadline for submitting 2007
residential geothermal rebate applications to April 30,
2008. The installation work must have been started in 2007
in order to qualify for the deadline extension, and the
completed rebate application and all required documentation
must be received by April 30, 2008. This gives contractors
additional time to complete installations that were started
in 2007 and will allow those installations to be eligible
for the higher 2007 rebate amount. Please note that all
other 2007 eligibility requirements will still apply.
Rebate Information
LIPA’s rebate is based on the unit’s Energy Efficiency Ratio
[EER] rating, and LIPA only provides rebates on geothermal
units that can be independently verified through the current
Air Conditioning and Refrigeration [ARI] directory as
performing to LIPA’s Efficiency standard. For information
about rebate levels and eligibility requirements please
download the applicable rebate application.
