Fuel Cell Grid Connection Project

As part of LIPA’s commitment to the development of clean energy technologies, LIPA and Plug Power Inc. have partnered in a program designed to show how fuel cell technology may ultimately generate additional electricity on Long Island. 75 fuel cells have been connected to the grid at LIPA’s West Babylon substation.

The fuel cells are expected to produce enough electricity to power about 100 average-sized homes over a twelve-month period.
