Electric Safety Classroom Presentations

Third, fourth and fifth graders & teachers, did you know that LIPA offers a program where a retired LIPA employee will come to your school and conduct a 30-45 minute class on the do's and don’ts of conduct around electricity- AT NO COST TO YOUR SCHOOL!

We will work with you to coordinate the presentation sessions. The presentation works best when given to groups of no more than 75 students in an all-purpose room. All students will receive an activity book on the lesson, which is also available for downloading on the Electric Universe portion of our Web site

May is National Electric Safety Month

During the month, LIPA hosts field trips to our outdoor Lineman’s Academy in Hicksville. Again, at no cost to your school, children watch as our trainers put on a very impressive demonstration of electricity’s power. If you are interested in this program, just e-mail me at tburgess-levy@lipower.org

Electric Universe & More

If these options don’t fit into your busy agenda, then don’t forget the LIPA Web site. The Electric Universe is more than 600 Web pages deep and filled with information for elementary, middle school and high school students. There’s also a portion entitled the Teacher’s Lounge with suggested lesson plans and electric experiments – all are labeled age appropriate. Also, watch for information about the LIPA Electric Safety Poster Contest, which begins just after the first of the year.
