The 10th Annual Electric Safety Poster Contest

Welcome back to the second half of the 2007-2008 school year. With the start of the New Year, I’d like to invite your school to participate in the Long Island Power Authority’s (LIPA) 10th Annual Electric Safety Poster Contest.

Who’s eligible?
This contest is open to students in grades three, four and five attending any public or private school in Nassau County, Suffolk County, or the Rockaway Peninsula of Queens, served by the Long Island Power Authority (LIPA).

What could a student win?
A commemorative plaque, a gift certificate and their poster will become part of a book cover, produced by LIPA and distributed via internet requests.

How do students participate?
Students create messages about electric safety and/or emergency preparedness and illustrate them on standard 8½” by 11” paper. Pens, pencils, markers or paint only can be used. NO COLLAGES WILL BE ACCEPTED.

Please write the FIRST and LAST NAME of the student on the BACK of the poster, along with the name of the school and the grade level and a CONTACT PHONE NUMBER! Schools should submit the entries to:

Overall, 12 winners will be selected:

(4) Grade 3 winners
(4) Grade 4 winners
(4) Grade 5 winners

What’s the deadline to enter?
All entries must be postmarked by Friday, March 14th, 2008 or delivered to LIPA’s Uniondale offices by the close of business March 14th, 2008.
